Bivalve shell body motion measuring device

  • This instrument measures the shell body movements of bivalve molluscs in the sea with a Hall sensor attached, and quickly detects abnormalities in the marine environment, such as red tides and anaerobic oxygen, through changes in their opening and closing movements.
  • It analyses the number of times and speed of opening and closing without disturbing the shellfish's movement, and captures the shellfish's movements in a tendentious manner. It can also be used for basic research on shellfish ecology.
  • Up to eight Hall sensors for detecting shell motion and up to four temperature sensors for measuring seawater temperature can be connected, and the measured values are output as time series behaviour, as well as the number of openings and closings, average values and frequency analysis results based on time intervals.
  • An optional wireless unit enables remote control and acquisition of measurement data via the internet.
  • Furthermore, an optional solar unit with solar panels and batteries mounted on a dedicated rack allows long-term operation on an offshore raft, making it possible to move the entire raft to a new installation location.
