A clip-on displacement transducer is a precise sensor that attaches directly to a material's surface to measure its deformation, particularly the opening of cracks (CMOD), by using strain gauges or other principles to convert physical movement into electrical signals for precise analysis in material testing, especially for fracture toughness.
Primarily, it is used to determine Crack Mouth Opening Displacement (CMOD) for fracture mechanics tests. It is highly accurate that is designed for very precise, repeatable measurements, often within ±1% linearity. TML sensors are versatile that can be used for static and dynamic tests and even in extreme conditions (like cryogenic temperatures) with specialized models.
TML sensors are ASTM E399 standard compliant tips that are often designed to meet international standards.
"Clip-on" design makes it easy to install and remove for testing various specimens.
The RA Displacement Transducer is designed to measure crack opening displacement(CMOD) in metal.
The RA-L Displacement Transducer is designed to measure crack opening displacement(CMOD) in metal under low-temperature conditions.
